Today at NAB, The Indian digital cinema distribution gaint QUBE has done a presentation on cloud technology as future of low cost distribution. Doing the presentation for QUBE , Mr Ramaswamy said that the owner of the content or film is concerned about security while distributing the content though various technologies are used. In india the distributors are largely dependent on satellite for delivery of films to cinemas. The satellite distribution is costly as a single transponder rental cost something between 12 to 15 crores/year. Speaking on the ocassion Mr ramaswamy presented the cloud model , he named it pull model. In this the content is loaded on cloud and downloaded by distributor who further hands over physically to sub distributors or cinemas. This model cuts the cost but there are many challenges.
