Karan Johar is gearing up to kickstart the shoot of his upcoming directorial titled Takht. The film is set against the backdrop of Mughal Era and the announcement for the same was made in 2018. The period drama will have an ensemble cast which includes Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. A few months back, Karan had taken to his Instagram story and shared a video wherein his team is seen prepping for Takht.
Now as per reports in Mumbai Mirror, KJo’s directorial is set to go on floors in the month of February next year and will be a start to finish schedule. Talking about the same, a source stated to the tabloid, “The film kicks off in February with a start-to-finish schedule. Being a period film, the technical team is presently focused on the sets and locations and the script, while also deciding on the diction and mannerism of the characters. Work on the visual effects will take place simultaneously with the shoot so the film is ready on time.”
Moreover, Karan will also be conducting workshops for the cast so as to make it easy for them to get into the skin of the character. The source went on to say, “Everyone has a distinct look. While Anil will have to put on some extra kilos, Ranveer and Vicky will have to look lean and mean.”
The source concluded by saying, “Every character has been inspired by history and since Ranveer has dabbled in the genre a few times in the past, from playing Peshwa Bajirao to Allauddin Khilji, the goal is to make him look different from what he has already done.”
Takht is likely to hit the screens in December 2020.
