In March this year, Rani Mukerji kickstarted the shoot of her upcoming film, Mardaani 2. The film is a sequel to her 2014 hit film Mardaani which was helmed by Pradeep Sarkar. Mardaani 2 is directed by Gopi Puthran and in the film, Rani will be seen fighting a merciless villain, who is of 21 years of age. She plays the role of Superintendent of Police, Shivani Shivaji Roy. Finally, the release date of the film has been announced.
Yes, Mardaani 2 will be releasing this year itself on December 13, 2019. Earlier, talking about Mardaani 2, Rani had said, “Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this will come as a pleasant surprise to all of them. Gopi has written an extraordinary script.”
She added, “Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain, who has no empathy, no fear of God and who is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out which actor will play the antagonist.”
In the first instalment, Tahir Raj Bhasin played the sadist young villain and the film was based on human trafficking.
